Cactus in Bloom

After 110 miles in 6 days, I am leaving tomorrow with 5 days of food for a 100 mile stretch that includes the snowy San Jacinto Mountains. I am bringing my MicroSpikes to wear on my shoes for the ice.

The JetBoil is Back

I am happy making breakfast in bed with my JetBoil. I had to switch to my 7.6 ounce pack, because the JetBoil won't fit in my VestPack. My sleeping system has been working extremely well. A 16 ounce Western Mountaineering HighLite sleeping bag, a 6.5 ounce MontBell W/B bivy sack and bubble wrap. I make a slight depression in the ground for my butt.

Warming freeze dry food that has been soaking for 2 hours on a .1 ounce pop can stove with a .5 ounce Esbit cube works, but the food never got hot and it took 13 minutes just to get it warm.

After I found out the streams and springs were dry, I added an extra 3 pounds of water. The temperature has been about 86 degrees during the day.
